Description: The 7th Grade Summer Academic Camp will consist of half-days with Ms. McCorkle in ELA working on the summer reading selection and half-days with Ms. Walsh & Ms. Gulotta in STEM activities.

We will dive into the required reading book, Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie. It is a young adult novel by American author Jordan Sonnenblick. The story follows Steven Alper, a 13-year-old drummer whose life is turned upside down when his five-year-old brother, Jeffrey, is diagnosed with leukemia. As Steven navigates the trials of early adolescence, Sonnenblick explores thematic elements of resilience, adversity, and family in this coming-of-age tale. We will complete the entire book as well as the packet of questions. (bring your own book)
Math and Science combined with Ms. Gulotta and Ms. Walsh will be a unique STEM opportunity for your child to dive into fun, hands-on activities that spark curiosity and foster a love for learning. Our camp features a variety of interactive projects, experiments, and challenges that make learning math and science exciting. We will intertwine math and science lessons that relate to real-world events, solving escape rooms, and make discoveries both indoors and outdoors to reach the highest potential for learning. A portion of each daily session will be devoted to reviewing concepts in and working problems on the math summer packet.
